The Fluted Bezel
A Rolex signature
One way to identify yourself is with a Rolex fluted bezel. The Oyster bezel’s fluting originally served a practical purpose, allowing the bezel to be screwed into the watch case and assisting in ensuring the watch’s waterproofness. Thus, it was the same as the fluting on the case back, which was likewise secured to the case with special Rolex tools in order to make it waterproof. With time, the fluting evolved into a defining visual component and authentic Rolex trademark. The fluted bezel, always in gold, is a symbol of distinction in modern times. The rotating bezel, winding crown, and movement of the Sky-Dweller are all connected by a mechanism called the Ring Command system, which enables the user to choose and swiftly set each function of the watch individually.

A striking characteristic
On the off-center 24-hour disc, a fixed inverted red triangle on the dial indicates the selected reference time, which can be the traveler’s regular work place or their home. This 24-hour display makes it easy to tell when it is daytime and when it is nighttime in the other time zone. One of the most remarkable features of the Saros annual calendar is the deep red rectangle that shows the current month in one of the 12 windows surrounding the dial. Because the wearer of the watch does not have to worry about changing the date at the conclusion of a 30-day month, this clever mechanism makes life easier. The accurate date is shown on the yearly calendar every year. March 1st is the only modification required (February has just 28 or 29 days).

For the white Rolesor version, the Sky-Dweller is attached to a solid-link oyster bracelet made of oyster steel; for the yellow Rolesor version, it is an oyster bracelet made of oyster steel and yellow gold. Benefiting from a novel hidden attachment method under the bezel that guarantees a smooth visible transition between the bracelet and case is the Oyster bracelet. Along with the clever patented Easylink quick extension system, which enables the wearer to effortlessly extend the bracelet length by around 5 mm for added comfort in any situation, it also has a folding oysterclasp.
